Anisha Ahuja is a Ph.D. candidate in Cultural Studies at Claremont Graduate University. Anisha received her B.A. in Political Science and Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed her M.A. from CGU in Cultural Studies in 2020. She is a Senior Consultant at the Center for Writing and Rhetoric and has worked in writing tutorship and instruction by mentoring students across disciplines at the Claremont Colleges and supporting other graduate writing tutors. She is a recipient of the 2022-2023 Grace Berry Award for Women in Graduate Studies, the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship, and CGU Friedman Grants. Anisha’s research interests focus on gender studies in transnational contexts. Her dissertation explores the links between sexual labor in colonial India and modern structures of gender, caste, imperialism, and religious fundamentalism. Anisha’s work integrates postcolonial theory, queer theory, and transnational feminist frameworks to study gender and sexuality.
